Well... it wasn't the most beautiful, but the nicest/funniest/happiest/best - there's many ways to translate the word "kiva"... I think a lot of people thought this was the absolutely funniest entry LOL
But I bet they are warm :-) And perhaps the ladies can't see too well either anymore and need bright colors to find the coat ;-) Besides, SOMETHING has to be done with leftover sock yarns!
Anyone notice how the bottom gets tighter on the one on the right, making the portion directly above nice and balloon-like? Just the thing to make thighs look bigger! It's signature fug-ness!
Maybe the contest was for the MOST yarn used in one garment. These must have taken ages to knit! Nothing else to do on those snowy, dark Finnish nights.

Aren't they lovely :-P
They did not win, though, (thank goodness for that) but quite popular they were. What does it tell about us Finns, I'm even scared to think...
They are cheerful-looking garments...
Was the object of the contest to knit items easily seen from space?

Very eww. And those things must have taken AGES to knit. *whimpers*
were these three entries? Or did someone have too much bright yarn left from the eighties/seventies(too young to remember either)

Uh... I meant to say it wasn't the most beautiful hand knit item, but the nicest/funniest/happiest/best hand MADE item...
And if you could read Finnish, you'd read "Beautiful colors" "well composed colors" "I want one too!"
